MSNBC, Obama and passport files

From the moment the story broke about Obama's passport file being breached on Thursday March 20, 2007, MSNBC covered extensively and at length the breach of Obama's passport file day and night until about 2 PM on Saturday March 22.

THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN PUSHED THIS STORY HARD

THAT IT WAS A CLINTON SUPPORTER BEHIND THIS,

DEMANDED CONGRESSIOAL HEARINGS,

THEY THOUGHT THEYD DESTROY EVIL HILLARY WITH THIS ONE......

Then oops!

cue the CRICKETS...

2 PM on Saturday happened to be the time that CNN started reporting about the employees who had breached Obama's passport file and the fact that the CEO of the company that they worked for is an advisor to Barack Obama.

John O. Brennan who is the President and CEO of Analysis Corp is also a former senior CIA official and former interim director of the National Counterterrorism Center and advises Barack Obama on foreign policy and intelligence issues.   He has also personally contributed $2,300 to the Obama campaign.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/22/p assport.files/

On Friday March 21, 2007, Sen. Obama called for an investigation into how his security of the passport file was breached.  "One of the things that the American people count on in their interactions with any level of government is that if they have to disclose personal information, that it stay personal and stay private," Obama said in Portland, Oregon on Friday March 21, 2007.

"And when you have not just one but a series of attempts to tap into people's personal records, that's a problem not just for me but for how our government is functioning," he said.

Obama said he expected "a full and thorough investigation" by the administration in conjunction with congressional oversight committees.

From the moment that the passport file breach story broke until the story about O.Brennan broke, Barack Obama, his campaign and his supporters demanded that heads roll and that investigations that would lead to the prosecution of anyone involved be conducted immediately.

We now know (not as a result of NBC, MSNBC, CBS, or ABC), but thanks to CNN and FOX that Obama and his campaign are directly linked to the CEO of the very company that employed the individuals that breached Obama's passport file.

Barack Obama and his entire campaign owe the American people, Senator Clinton, Senator McCain, even the Bush administration, and the State Department an immediate explanation and more importantly an apology concerning his relationship with John O. Brennan.

But I guess we won't see or hear NBC/MSNBC giving this story the attention it deserves and giving it the amount of attention that was given to Barack Obama's file being breached given their sickening affection for Obama.

The story immdiately disapeared from MSNBC when it became obvious that it had nothing to do with the obama campaign pushed idea that it was a Clinton supporteer spying on obama, but rather the facts themselves were an embarrsment for Obama.

If Senator Clinton had a Sr. Advisor that was the CEO of the very company that employed the contractors that had breached Obama's passport file, Obama, his supporters, and the media would be screaming bloody murder and demanding that Senator Clinton drop out of the race, not to mention the fact that the Obama Campaign would certainly look to have someone prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for such a breach.

No wonder MSNBC's ratings are in 3rd place behind FOX and CNN.  It serves MSNBC right.

It has been documend that GE/MSNBC actiively worked in 2000 to destroy Gore and elect Bush and they are working now to destroy Hillary. Twice they have been forced to publiclly apologize to her and they truly HATE HER for it.

Obama has always argued that experience is not, and should not be the most primary qualification for a Presidential candidate.  Obama has always maintained that if he surrounds himself with the right ADVISORS, then his personal experience should be at best, a secondary qualification.  He maintains that the advice he receives from others and his judgment alone should be the Primary Qualification for any Presidential candidate.

Well it's obvious that Obama doesn't have the necessary experience and little by little we are seeing that he is being advised by very questionable people.

The very people that are advising Obama, the ones who pushed the idea that it was a Clinton supporteer spying on Obama, should cause people in this country to call into question his judgment, and his judgment should be called into question at this point considering he claims that judgment is really the only necessary requirement for anyone to be President of the United States of America.

I invite anyone who believes this contorted logic and twisted distortion of what Bill Clinton said to watch and listen to the video. It will only take you 2 minutes to get the context. Bill Clinton at Veterans of Foreign War Stonewall Jackson Post with reasons to vote for Clinton. http://youtube.com/watch?v=dlu7wjPEK4k In context, Bill Clinton was talking about a head to head contest between Clinton and McCain. He hadn't mentioned her Democratic rival for many sentences (40 seconds?), so only Clinton and McCain were on the VFW veteran's minds. He implied nothing to the veterans other than Clinton loves her country as much as the veterans already believed McCain does, and if the people would compare Clinton and McCain only on the issues, Clinton would win. Of course, no veteran there has said that Bill implied anything about Obama's patriotism. So maybe writerswrite' "brilliant communicator" communicated exactly what he intended about Clinton beating McCain on the issues. The only comparison with Obama, stated or implied, was Bill Clintons argument that polls show Clinton is more electable since she leads McCain in 2 important states (plus Arkansas) where Obama trails McCain. It was disheartening watching Obama step aside at a rally for this unsupported attack on Bill Clinton so that Obama didn't make the personal attack himself.

Funny how quickly that story dried (1.00 / 0)

up, eh?   I predicted that.   Obama sent out an all-points bulletin to yank that story, and they did.  Face it, Larry Sinclair is not the only one with a boner for Barack.

Oh no, no...nothing that nefarious. It's just the standard, run-of-the-mill "Obama was associated with this guy so his campaign is a disgrace and Hillary should win the nomination" diary.

Re: MSNBC, Obama and passport files (2.00 / 1)

I am fairly certain the author was saying that once the FACTS of the case came out and the Obama campaign could not continue on the spin cycle they had start regarding the file breach, they (and the MS media lapdogs who made it a huge story before knowing all the facts) had a classic Emily Litella (Gilda's character from SNL) moment a la, "ooh.....um...nevermind!"

MSNBC, Keith Olbermann specifically, made no attempt to correct their earlier implications nor even add to the story in terms of, "Hey - what's going on?  All of the candidates' files were breached!"  It quickly became a dead story because the path was leading to an Obama liability.

Forgive me for assuming I can speak for you, John Wesley...please correct me if I'm wrong. =)

campaign pushed this or are you quoting other diaries?
From what I understand Obama asked for a Congressional investigation.  He never said it was Hillary's fault.  Maybe some others said that but you can't blame the Obama campaign for what any one happens to say.

Re: Do you have a link showing Obama's (none / 0)

Saying Hillary did it is not Obama's modus operandi. His surrogates usually do that kind of dirty work. That way he manages to stay above the fray. Most political candidates play it that way.

Re: MSNBC, Obama and passport files (none / 0)

Maybe this actually makes the story more important.

If the employees who looked at the file did it for kicks, well, OK.

But, if a major advisor to Obama somehow got personal information about Obama that could be used to hurt him, that could be creepy.

Re: MSNBC, Obama and passport files (2.00 / 1)

Ok, and Clinton worked for Walmart. Can we just call it even and try paying attention to something that actually matters?

The very people that are advising Obama should cause people in this country to call into question his judgment,

What about Penn. Man - you are in a glass house and you just don't realize it.

actually - why are you changing the topic?  the diary and issue is not whether BO did anything wrong!  its about the media - and MSNBC in particular who when they discovered their candidate of choice was tied to this they stopped reporting it.  sheesh - any opportunity to attch HRC - huh?

They did the same thing with Rezko (2.00 / 1)

Barack is "off-limits" at MSNBC. Remember how KO was hyping this story, and saying it was big. They were pushing it, and trying to link Hillary in not so usbtle ways to it, but yanked it as soon as Obama was implicated.

But this is the norm for them. When Geraldine went off, KO had a special comment against Hillary. When Wright is exposed, it's a "non-issue", and has no bearing on Barack.

MSNBC is the Fox News of the left. Obama is their Bush.

How many dubious diaries do you get to publish in (none / 0)

a day here.

Obama was the first to call for a full investigation. The acting inspector general has launched an investigation. There's really not a whole lot to talk about until either the investigation finds something or some investigative reporter does.

And BTW, Obama never claimed the Hillary camp was responsible.

Fevered? I heard it mentioned maybe twice on the MSM and I was listening pretty hard. Mostly just blogs were chatting it up, and it didn't really go anywhere. The Obama camp never accused Clinton of impropriety, only Bush. And they played it up to get some political heat off them after a pretty shitty few news cycles. No one is accusing Clinton of Watergate stuff, so relax.

Re: Right .... (none / 0)

By the way, the contacting company was not owned by a Clinton supporter. It's actually owned by an Obama supporter. The SUPERVISOR during the first two breaches was a President Clinton APPOINTEE (not a supporter) during the 90's. Ambassador to Paraguay, I believe. Just to clear up the facts, there's no insinuation of impropriety.
